Shanghai .. 7 new deaths from "Corona" since the closure

Today, China announced seven new deaths due to Covid-19 in Shanghai, bringing the official death toll from the disease, after hundreds of thousands of injuries were recorded in the city during a weeks-long closure.

And the city authorities revealed the first deaths from the virus yesterday, which raises the total number of people who died on Tuesday to ten, despite the scale of the virus outbreak.

Many of Shanghai's 25 million residents have been confined to their homes since March as daily infections crossed the threshold of 25,000, a small number by global standards that was previously only heard of in China.

Residents of the city filled social media with complaints about food shortages, quarantine conditions and heavy security, and they also published video clips of unprecedented protests that spread before the Chinese authorities could delete them.
