“Even with more measurement data and more types of surveys, the overall picture shows that the activity sought is fully compatible with environmental legislation.

Sustainable operation based on high environmental requirements is, as always, a strong guiding light in Cementa's work, ”says Karin Comstedt Webb, head of sustainability at Heidelberg Cement northern Europe in a press release.

The debate over whether Cementa's mining in Slite will be able to continue began last summer, and the tours have been many.

Until now, the company has been able to continue through a temporary permit that was made possible by an exception in the Environmental Code.

The production in Slite accounts for about 75 percent of the cement used in Sweden.

Without it, three out of four homes cannot be started for construction, according to an impact assessment carried out by the trade association Byggföretagen last year.
