The Madrid City Council has found use for three of the

Casa de Campo

's semi-abandoned pavilions : Icona I, Icona II and Exposiciones.

The municipal corporation will locate the Video Game Campus there, which is already being proposed by the

Economy and Innovation Area

as a means of promoting a sector that has been gaining weight in the capital in recent years, and which seeks to position itself as the European reference in this field.

That is why the Governing Board of the Consistory has just approved the specifications of a contract that Cibeles trusts to have awarded by the end of summer.

Thus, from that moment on, it will be possible to start managing a space whose main function will be the

development of new ideas for video games

through interaction between professionals in the sector and members of the video game cluster such as Electronic Arts, Amazon or Microsoft.

The campus will have a space with state-of-the-art material that will function as an incubator and accelerator for small developers and with its own design in the

Metaverse

so that professionals can interact through this digital world.

A technology that will also give impetus to the exhibitions that are proposed also reaching the entire city of Madrid.

Because this municipal space will have a museum in which exhibitions focused on the world of video games will be implemented.

There will be a fixed sample on the history of this sector that will alternate with other temporary ones in which the developments of some projects will be shown.

In addition, the Consistory proposes to develop events throughout the city that allow this new space to be known.

As detailed in Cibeles, the impetus for this project is focused on "making Madrid companies visible in the world, for which financing rounds and conferences will be held to expose the work of these small developers."

They even propose in the

Economics Area

that the Campus serve as an educational model for the new generations.

That is why a

municipal eSports league

and different activities will be developed, as well as different events during the weekends so that families from Madrid can come to the Casa de Campo and delve deeper into the world of

gaming.

In fact, in recent months, several events have been held in the three pavilions now set up for the campus: a Minecraft tournament, talks for new developers, and meetings and conferences for members of the capital's video game cluster.

"The City Council wants young people from Madrid to stay and develop their careers in the world of video games in Madrid, with

attractive and stable employment opportunities

, and the Video Game Campus is the project to achieve these challenges", they detail in Cibeles, where They

consider that the

gaming

sector already produces wealth for the city today and this will continue to increase in the future.

And this campus, the municipal government understands, will strengthen the competitiveness of Madrid companies in the sector, attracting talent and foreign investment to develop a business that can boost the economy of the capital and open up a new sales opportunity.
