The Swedish Migration Agency has now announced the final proposal on how many protection-seeking Ukrainians Västmanland will receive.

1,697 Ukrainians will be placed in the county.

The distribution is based on an estimate of how many accommodation places are needed based on the Swedish Migration Agency's main scenario that 76,000 Ukrainian refugees will seek refuge in Sweden before the end of the first half of the year.

Larger municipalities must take the greatest responsibility

It is the county administrative boards and the municipalities in each county that are now tasked with deciding exactly what the distribution will look like.

- We will invite the municipalities to information and dialogue meetings next week, and based on that we will decide what it will all look like, says Pernilla Börjesson, unit manager at the unit for social sustainability at the County Administrative Board in Västmanland.

At present, 827 refugees from Ukraine are located around the county.

- The main purpose of this dialogue is to counteract that it will be like the refugee crisis in 2015, where the small municipalities had to take an unreasonably large responsibility, says Pernilla Börjesson.

On April 29, the distribution must be sent to the Swedish Migration Board.
