China News Service, Beijing, April 16 (Reporter Sun Zifa) The latest news from Springer Nature, a world-renowned academic publishing house, said that it and Digital Science's Figshare repository recently jointly launched a free trial project to better support the public sharing of data by authors of scientific papers.

This is also the first integrated new way of data storage launched by the two parties.

Through this pilot project, authors can easily choose to participate in data sharing through Figshare and integrate into the integrated submission process when submitting to the Nature series of research journals and academic editorial journals.

According to Springer Nature, data availability is at the heart of open science and is integral to enabling research reproducibility and knowledge advancement.

Research on the impact of data sharing shows that when data is publicly available, citations to articles increase by more than 25%.

However, despite the positive impact of sharing data and the willingness of paper authors to share, less than 40% actually share their data.

Reasons for this include lack of awareness, not knowing how to store data, confusing processes, or difficulty linking data to articles correctly.

The newly launched pilot project will further strengthen Springer Nature's long-term commitment to open data, including automatic storage of auxiliary information for its open access journals, enhanced data management support for authors, and its flagship data journal Science. Data Integration, etc.

The pilot project will initially include the Nature series of research journals and journals in scholarly editorial mode, covering areas such as neuroscience, ecology and evolution, chemistry, energy, cancer, and transplantation, and will explore and collaborate closely with researchers everywhere. Examine a more integrated approach to data sharing.
