“He is a citizen of Ukraine, so he will enjoy all procedural rights... His future will be decided as part of, on the one hand, the legal process, and on the other hand, the political process.

We do not rule out any political decisions,” Kuleba said in an interview with CBS.

When asked what the Ukrainian diplomat means by political decisions, he recalled the statement of the press secretary of the President of Russia Dmitry Peskov - according to him, Russia is not interested in exchanging Medvedchuk.

“We will see how the situation develops,” Kuleba added.

The minister did not answer questions about what Medvedchuk's fault is.

On April 12, the Ukrainian president released a photo of Medvedchuk sitting in handcuffs.

Later, he offered to exchange the detained opposition leader for Ukrainian prisoners of war.

Medvedchuk's wife Oksana Marchenko appealed to Russian President Vladimir Putin with a request to help in the release of the deputy.

She also recorded an appeal to Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky asking for the release of her husband and asked for help from Turkish leader Recep Tayyip Erdogan and Crown Prince of Saudi Arabia Mohammed bin Salman Al Saud.

Deputy Speaker of the Federation Council Konstantin Kosachev sent an official request to the Secretary General of the Inter-Parliamentary Union Martin Chungong with a proposal to submit for consideration by the Human Rights Committee the issue of violation of such rights of the deputy of the Verkhovna Rada Viktor Medvedchuk, who was arrested in Ukraine.
