The Dubai Health Authority has identified three categories that must avoid using dermal fillers, to avoid its risks and side effects, and has identified a set of tips that must be adhered to before resorting to this cosmetic procedure.

According to the authority, the three categories that should avoid using dermal fillers are people who suffer from disorders that cause bleeding, people who suffer from allergies, and pregnant and lactating women.

Dermal fillers are gel-like materials that are injected under the skin to create a fresher or more beautiful appearance, or both, and are naturally absorbed by the body over time.

And she continued, "If a person decides to use filler injections, three procedures must be adhered to, the first of which is to ensure that he goes to a licensed and trained health care provider with experience in the fields of dermatology or plastic surgery, in addition to the necessity of asking the health care provider to disclose the name of the dermal filler. Which will be used, in addition to informing the health care provider of any medical conditions he suffers from such as infection and any disorders that may cause bleeding, allergies.

Regarding the possible side effects of dermal fillers, the authority explained that they are bruising, redness, swelling and pain in the place of the filling, noting that the types of fillers differ according to the treated area and the duration of their stay in the body.

Dermal fillers are used to smooth lines around the nose and mouth, enhance and restore volume to the cheeks, reduce vertical lip lines, lift and plump the lips, reduce chin wrinkles, and improve the symmetry of facial features.
