The US Food and Drug Administration has granted emergency approval for a breath test to detect COVID-19.
And the administration announced yesterday, Thursday, that the device is the size of the bag that can be taken on the plane.

The test shows results in less than three minutes, based on a chemical analysis, and can be used in surgeries performed by doctors or in hospitals, for example.
The device was able to detect that people were infected with Covid-19 disease in 91% of cases, and detected uninfected people in 99% of cases.
The test was conducted on people with obvious symptoms, and on others without symptoms.
"The test was performed with similar sensitivity in a follow-up clinical study focused on the omicron mutant," the US Food and Drug Administration said in a statement.
The tests currently being conducted require a swab from the nose or throat.
