The Foreign Ministry called the statements of the Israeli minister a thinly veiled attempt to use the situation around Ukraine to divert the attention of the international community from the Palestinian-Israeli conflict.

The ministry said the Israeli government, in violation of numerous UN decisions, continues its "illegal occupation and creeping annexation of Palestinian territories", leaving more than 2.5 million Palestinians in the West Bank living in "scattered enclaves cut off from the outside world."

The Foreign Ministry also called it noteworthy that the course of the Israeli authorities to "preserve the longest occupation in the post-war world history" is carried out with the tacit connivance of the leading Western countries and the actual support of the United States.
