The legal advisor, Dr. Youssef Al-Sharif, warned against using modern technology to spread rumors and false news, including the creation and modification of electronic bots with the aim of transmitting false data, noting that the legislator decided to imprison and fine the penalty for this crime.

Al-Sharif explained, in video episodes, broadcast by "Emirates Today", through its platforms, to shed light on the newly issued laws, the concept of electronic robots, as stated in Article (1) of the Rumors Law, which is an electronic program that is created or modified, for the purpose of efficiently running automated tasks. and speed.

He added that robots are not robots that greet and greet others, and carry out some life tasks, or serve the person in his home, but the robot has a larger concept, and it is every device that works automatically and regularly.

Al Sharif stressed that the UAE encourages innovation, development and industrialization, and at the same time the legislator decided a penalty for crimes committed through electronic robots, as stated in Article 54, where the crime is more organized than traditional publishing, where robots are employed in a more technological way, to be its mission Publishing, re-publishing or circulating false statements and news about the country.

And the article decided that “he shall be punished by imprisonment for a period not exceeding two years, and a fine of not less than 100,000 dirhams and not more than one million dirhams, or one of these two penalties, whoever creates or modifies an electronic robot, with the intention of publishing, re-publishing or circulating false data or news in the country.” or enabling others to publish, re-publish or circulate it.

He pointed out that the same article stated that "the punishment is intensified when the perpetrators are multiple", because this is considered an organized act and follows parties working to undermine the country's reputation and interests, so it was necessary to tighten the penalty on them.
