"Due to the throwing of pyrotechnic devices on the field, the Red Star-Sète match is definitively interrupted", announced the Red Star on Twitter.

The match had already been temporarily halted by protests by Red Star supporters.

At the time of the final interruption, Sète was leading 1-0 after opening the scoring in the 27th minute.

The Red Star, a club founded in 1897, currently occupies 11th place in the National Championship and Sète 14th.

The Saint-Ouen club is in the process of being bought by the American fund 777 Partners with which its president Patrice Haddad has entered into exclusive negotiations for the sale of 100% of the shares.

The Red Star supporters notably unfurled a banner proclaiming "777 not welcome" and sang "777, break up!".
