The Villevaudé animal shelter (Seine-et-Marne) set up a special operation in March to pick up animals in Ukraine.

A total of 21 dogs and 7 cats were recovered at the Polish border, reports

.

A crew has formed to pick up the animals before the borders close.

A call for donations made it possible to recover blankets, baskets and food.

"Arrived at the limit of Ukraine, we made a barter: our croquettes against 28 animals", explains a manager of the refuge.

Host families wanted

Part of the donations were deposited in Poland, whose shelters are saturated.

Arrived in France, the little refugees, many of whom are injured and in bad shape, were placed in quarantine and treated.

Some had to have one or more limbs amputated.

All must remain in solitary confinement for the time being.

Host families are being sought to welcome them.

To become one, you must reside in Seine-et-Marne, not own other animals and respect several sanitary measures.

Within five months, Ukrainian animals can be permanently adopted.
