Tourist entrepreneurs that SVT Norrbotten has spoken to see the conflict over heliski in the Kiruna mountains as an extension of the Girja goal where the Sami village won the rights to manage hunting and fishing in the Sami village area.

- We actually believe that there is a strategy from the Swedish Sami National Association.

Girjasdomen made it clear that they tried hunting first and now our industry is being tried, says Mina Dahl.

"An outrageous statement"

Matti Blind Berg, who is chairman of the Swedish Sami National Federation (SSR), is upset by the statement that the flight ban would be part of a strategy to limit who has the right to stay in the mountains.

- It's an outrageous statement.

We want to protect our animals from unnecessary suffering.

There are still large areas available for helicopter skiing.

It is an unreasonable debate, says Matti Blind Berg.

Cooperation with the Sami villages deteriorated

Johan Lindblom represents the accommodation facility Neuhku in Riksgränsen, which also has many heliski guests.

According to him, cooperation with the Sami villages has deteriorated radically.

- Helicopter skiing has been conducted in the Kiruna mountains since the 1970s and we have had good communication with the Sami villages in the area.

It has been gradually broken down.

In the start-up meeting this year, three of the Sami villages withdrew and the fourth showed up and said that everything was forbidden.

Matti Blind berg at SSR does not agree with that picture.

- Now it was this winter with special conditions and many reindeer remained on the mountain.

Now they need grazing peace and then the cooperation cuts off and the helicopter industry stepped down.

On Thursday afternoon, the administrative court announces that Abisko mountain lodges' request for inhibition is rejected.

They have until April 22 to appeal.
