Syria accused Israel on Thursday of perpetrating a new missile attack on the outskirts of Damascus, in the second such action

attributed to the Jewish state's aviation

on its territory in less than a week, the official Syrian news agency SANA reported. .

The projectiles were launched around 11:00 p.m. local time (8:00 p.m. GMT),

from the occupied Golan

and hit several points west of the Syrian capital, without the existence of victims being confirmed for the moment, according to SANA, which cites to an unidentified military source.

During the attack, a series of

explosions could be heard in the area,

the official media added.

The Syrian Observatory for Human Rights, an NGO based in the United Kingdom and a wide network of collaborators on the ground, said in a statement that the objective of the action was military positions near the town of

Qatana

, where Iranian militias are deployed and Palestinians allied to Syrian President Bashar al-Assad.

This is the

second missile launch

by Israel since last Saturday, when its warplanes attacked several areas of Hama province in western Syria.

According to data from the Observatory, so far this year there have been at least eight actions of this type in Syrian territory with a balance of twelve dead soldiers and combatants.

These types of attacks are

common

, especially against areas with the presence of Lebanese and Iranian Shia militiamen, whose presence in Syria is considered by Israel as a threat to its security.
