The French public health agency recorded 137,342 cases in 24 hours, around 9,000 less than the day before and 21,000 less than a week ago.

The average infections over the past seven days stood at 128,305, compared to 131,369 on Wednesday and 133,488 a week ago.

This slight reflux can give hope for an imminent relaxation of hospital tension.

There are currently 24,828 patients infected with Covid in French hospitals, 50 more than Wednesday and 1,556 more than a week ago.

Of these patients, 1,648 are treated in critical care units, which treat the most serious cases.

This indicator, which is still closely watched, has been almost stable for two weeks.
