A Russian university professor is drawing attention by posting a series of articles to the effect that "Korea is not interested in Ukraine."

Artiom Lukin, a professor of international relations at the Russian Far Eastern Federal University, shared a photo of Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky's speech at the Korean National Assembly posted by a user named 'John Lee' on his SNS on the 12th local time.

Previously, John Lee posted the photo on social media and wrote, "Of all the countries where President Zelensky spoke, the Korean National Assembly recorded the lowest number of attendees. Look at those empty seats."

After the Russian invasion, President Zelensky has delivered video speeches in 23 countries, starting with the European Union (EU).

Many lawmakers attended and gave a standing ovation to President Zelensky's video address held at parliaments in the United States, Canada, Japan, and Spain.

During the speech in the U.S. House of Representatives on the 16th of last month, House Speaker Nancy Pelosi and other lawmakers filled the auditorium and responded to President Zelensky's speech with standing ovations from the beginning to the end of the speech.

About 500 lawmakers, including Japanese Prime Minister Fumio Kishida, attended the speech at the Japanese National Assembly a week later, and a standing ovation followed after the speech.

On the other hand, President Zelensky's speech at the National Assembly in Yeouido, Seoul, on the 11th, was attended by only 60 of the 300 members of the ruling and opposition parties and the 21st National Assembly.

The auditorium was empty and there was no standing ovation after the speech.

In response, John Lee posted a critical article along with a photo of the situation at the time, and Professor Lukin shared it and criticized it, saying, "It is another proof that Asian countries are not interested in Ukraine. However, Japan is an exception."

Professor Lukin has mentioned the situation in Korea in relation to Russia's invasion of Ukraine several times through social media.

He shared an article on the 10th that 'Russian king crab prices are soaring in Korea as prices of king crabs have fallen,' and he sarcastically said, "For ordinary Koreans, delicious seafood is more important than wars in Eastern Europe."

This is a 'news pick'.
