“As a result of the successful offensive actions of the Russian armed forces and police units of the DPR, 1,026 Ukrainian servicemen of the 36th Marine Brigade voluntarily laid down their arms and surrendered,” Konashenkov said.
According to him, among those who surrendered are 162 officers and 47 female soldiers.
Earlier, the head of the Chechen Republic, Ramzan Kadyrov, said that, according to preliminary data, more than a thousand marines of the Armed Forces of Ukraine had surrendered in Mariupol.
The Headquarters of the Territorial Defense of the DPR also confirmed this information.
