The seventh edition of the international “Our Ocean” summit begins this Wednesday, April 13.
For the first time, it is organized in Palau, a Pacific archipelago on the front line in the face of global warming and rising sea levels.
500 representatives from all over the world will be present.

With an average altitude of a few meters, the Palau archipelago is one of those island states directly threatened by rising waters.
Concerned at the forefront by global warming, the country is thus organizing for the first time
the international summit “Our Ocean”
in partnership with the United States.
Two days of talks
On the program, two days of discussions involving government officials, civil society and companies to move forward on several fronts
such as marine pollution, protected areas or sustainable fishing.
As often during this kind of meeting, this one should lead to its share of international commitments and fundraising.
The six previous summits had thus enabled the mobilization of more than 91 billion dollars and the protection of 13 million square kilometers of maritime areas, an area equivalent to Russia.
Protect
The organizers therefore hope to continue this momentum to protect the oceans in very bad shape, as the various sections of the
latest IPCC report recently specified.
