"It is certainly not the first time that a candidacy from the far right has reached the second round in this way. However, unlike 2002 and 2017, the probability is real today that this one will win" , writes more than a hundred cultural leaders in a column posted online by the daily Liberation.

"This is why we will vote on April 24 for Emmanuel Macron, and invite all those who would be tempted by abstentionism to do the same", they continue.

"It's not just about the world of art and culture, it's about the art of living together and the culture of a common world", they conclude.

Among the signatories, we find the former socialist minister and current director of the IMA (Institut du monde arabe), Jack Lang, Stéphane Braunschweig (director of the Odéon theater in Paris) or Macha Makeieff (director of the National Theater from La Criée to Marseille).

The list also includes the names of Laurence Herszberg (general director of the Series Mania festival), Stanislas Nordey (director of the National Theater of Strasbourg), Olivier Py (director of the Festival d'Avignon) or even Eric Ruf (administrator of the Comédie française) .

"The world that Marine le Pen wants to achieve (...) is that of + national preference +, of discrimination and xenophobia erected into constitutional principles, of the return to the right of blood, of the closure to another, the renunciation of all forms of diversity and hospitality", they denounce.
