Hemeroteca The former deputy who leaked the 'Bárcenas papers': "The PP leaders threatened me with all kinds of misfortunes. It was terrible harassment"
The former Catalan deputy of the PP in
Congress
(1996-2000)
Jorge Trias Sagnier
, who uncovered corruption in his party by leaking
Bárcenas's papers
, has died this Wednesday at the age of 73, Europa Press has learned.
Lawyer and writer, he was secretary of
the Organization of the Lliga de Catalunya
(1975-76), advisor to the Minister of Justice (1977), vice president of
the Spanish Committee of the European League for Economic Cooperation
(1983-91) and member of the
Illustrious Association of Lawyers of Madrid
.
Trias was the person to whom Luis Bárcenas entrusted the handwritten documentation of
box B
of the PP.
In addition to examining the documents, in the three or four hours that he had them in his possession, Trías also photocopied them.
Over time, he handed them over to his friend
Gerardo Viada
, a lawyer for the newspaper
El País
, who ended up publishing the documents in February 2013.
The funeral will take place this Friday at the
Sant Gervasi funeral
home in
Barcelona
, where the burning chapel will have been installed.
