  According to the Kyrgyz Border Defense Agency, the reason for the exchange of fire was that the Tajik border guards illegally entered the territory of Kyrgyzstan about 20 meters. The Kyrgyz side fired a warning shot, but the Tajik side responded.

The Tajikistan Border Guard said that the Kyrgyz side interfered with the Tajik border guards patrolling their own territory and opened fire on the Tajik soldiers.

  According to the Kyrgyz Ministry of Health, at least one person was injured in the incident.
