While Géricault's painting, The Raft of the Medusa, is very famous, the captain of the frigate La Méduse, Hugues Duroy de Chaumareys, has been consigned to the dustbin of history.

In this new episode of the Europe 1 Studio podcast "At the heart of history", Clémentine Portier-Kaltenbach looks back on the story of the sinking and its manager. 

In 1816, Viscount Hugues Duroy de Chaumareys was entrusted with the management of La Méduse, the frigate in charge of retaking possession of Senegal.
