South Korea's president-elect Yoon Seok-yeol has announced that he will nominate a veteran parliamentarian, Park Jin, who is familiar with foreign policy, as a candidate for foreign minister for the new administration to be launched next month.


Mr. Park has expressed the idea that it is necessary to improve relations with Japan, and it seems that the personnel affairs reflect the position of the next administration that emphasizes cooperation between Japan, the United States and South Korea.

On the afternoon of the 13th, South Korean President-elect Yun Seo-gyeol announced new appointments for eight ministerial candidates for the new administration.



Among them, he announced that he will appoint Mr. Park Chin, a veteran parliamentarian who is familiar with foreign policy, as a candidate for foreign minister.



Mr. Park is a four-time elected member who has studied abroad in Japan as well as Harvard University in the United States, and has served as chairman of a committee in the field of diplomacy in the Diet.



"He is familiar with diplomatic strategies with the United States and has determined that South Korea will contribute to a central role in the international community," Yun said of Park.



Mr. Park, who was the head of the delegation sent by Mr. Yun to the United States this month, expressed the idea that it is necessary to improve relations with Japan after the meeting with senior US government officials, and said that Japan, the United States and South Korea would cooperate with each other. It seems that the personnel affairs reflect the position of the next administration, which is important.
