A rather comprehensive judgment.

Two young men of Polish nationality emerged free from the court in Bayonne (Pyrénées-Atlantiques) on Monday in a drug transport case, reports

Sud Ouest

.

Arrested on April 5 at the Biriatou tollbooth (Pyrénées-Atlantiques), the two suspects, aged 20 and 29, were in possession of more than 50 kg of herbal cannabis.

The drugs were hidden in their truck, in boxes and under a tarp.

A lenient judgment

The two Poles were therefore tried on Monday for importing, possessing and transporting narcotics.

The prosecutor requested against them 80,000 euros in customs fines as well as 12 and 20 months in prison.

But the judge was more lenient.

The two young people were acquitted of most of the facts and therefore did not receive a prison sentence.

They will simply have to pay, between them, the sum of 50,000 euros to the French customs administration.
