According to figures from the trade association Swedish Pig Entrepreneurs and the consultancy company Gård & dýrhälsan, each slaughtered pig produced means a loss of SEK 336 for the producer.

According to the industry organization Swedish Eggs, egg producers lose SEK 6-7 per kilo of eggs.

- At present, there is no general risk of food shortages in Sweden, but if the reduced profitability leads to reduced animal herds or discontinued operations, the Swedish food supply may be affected in the longer term.

The reason behind the rising costs for food producers is the ongoing war in Ukraine.
