A woman rented an apartment in Västerås from a man in his 30s, but otherwise had no relationship with him.

According to the ruling in Västmanland District Court, the landlord came home to his female tenant's apartment one evening to repair an electrical outlet.

He had tools with him, including a carpet knife.

When the man had carried out the repair and was on his way out, he must have assaulted the woman.

When she withdrew, he threatened her with the knife, and raped her, according to the verdict.

Afterwards, he took pictures of the woman and threatened to spread them if she reported to the police.

But already that evening, the woman reported the crime to the police.

The man claims that the contact was voluntary on her part.

But the woman is supported by a witness, who helped her after the incident.

The district court considers the woman's story to be credible, and there is also supporting evidence in the form of photographs.

The man is sentenced to five years and two months in prison for aggravated rape and assault in court.
