It is noted that the authors of the bill propose to give the Prosecutor General of Russia and his deputies the authority to invalidate the registration of the media in case they disseminate false information.

The Prosecutor General's Office sends a request to Roskomnadzor, which must immediately and without a court decision, invalidate the media registration or terminate the broadcast license.

“We are talking about both foreign media, whose work may be stopped as a response after the blocking of Russian media in a particular country, and domestic publications if they distribute false information,” Izvestia writes.

It is clarified that the reason for blocking the media may, in particular, be the placement of false information about the actions of the Russian Armed Forces.

Earlier, Andrei Klishas, chairman of the Federation Council Committee on Constitutional Legislation, said that YouTube video hosting is moving towards becoming illegal in Russia.
