People have resigned for less.

Unfortunately, experience teaches us that the British Prime Minister applies different standards to himself than to mere mortals.

Like his Chancellor of the Exchequer, Rishi Sunak, Boris Johnson has to pay a fine.

Both violated corona requirements by participating in celebrations at the government seat.

The police found this out and issued penalties accordingly.

Previously, Johnson had always said that no judgments should be made until the investigation into the incidents was completed.

Now everything has been examined, so now judgment can also be made.

And if a politician knowingly and willingly violates rules that he himself has enacted for everyone, then he is no longer acceptable in office.

The Tories knew who they were dealing with

It has long been known that Boris Johnson knows how to find many pleasant aspects in life.

He was willing to allow himself things that others would at least have been uncomfortable with.

The Conservative Party knew who they were getting themselves into when they made him party leader.

Of course, to proceed according to the motto that that's just how "Boris" is, would be a serious mistake.

Johnson can be trusted to reject calls for his resignation with reference to the international situation after the Russian attack on Ukraine.

But it would be an indictment of British politics if it found no one to take the helm.
