On April 9, local time, British Prime Minister Boris Johnson secretly arrived in Kyiv for a one-on-one meeting with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky.

Johnson promised Zelensky that he would impose tougher sanctions on Russia and provide Ukraine with more defensive weapons.

A spokesman for the British Prime Minister's Office said Johnson met Zelensky "to express solidarity with the people of Ukraine".

On the same day, Johnson and Zelensky also walked through the streets of Kyiv together.
