A 28-year-old man was sentenced to six years in prison by the Perpignan Criminal Court.

Homeless and in an irregular situation, on March 1 he stabbed another homeless man for no apparent reason, after throwing two cobblestones at him.

He also attacked the victim's dog, which he stabbed three times.

Already convicted on several occasions, he had twice been banned from staying on French territory.

But Chad, the country he claims to be from, does not recognize him as one of its nationals.

His extradition is therefore not possible.

Beyond the requisitions of the prosecutor

At the hearing, he plunged into total silence, refusing to answer the president or speak to his lawyer.

The court went beyond the requisitions of the prosecutor who had asked for a 5-year prison sentence.

This penalty is also accompanied by a ban on staying in France for 3 years.
