It has been 10 years since North Korea's General Secretary Kim Jong-un took office as the head of the Workers' Party of Korea.

While Kim is working to consolidate his power base, he has amended the Constitution to specify himself as a "nuclear-weapon state" and is accelerating nuclear and missile development. The possibility of doing so has also been pointed out.

North Korea's First Secretary Kim Jung-eun was newly established at the Workers' Party of Korea representatives' meeting held in April 2012, 10 years ago, following the death of his father, Kim Jong-il. He was elected "First Secretary" and became the head of the party that leads the nation and the military.

After that, General Secretary Kim repeatedly purged and dismissed executives, including the execution of his uncle Jang Song-thaek, who was supposed to be his guardian, in 2013, and became the new "chairman" of the party in 2016, and last year. In January, he was appointed as "General Secretary", who has the same title as his father, and has been working to solidify his power base.

On the other hand, unlike his father, who used nuclear weapons and missiles as diplomatic "trading materials," Kim revised the constitution immediately after taking office as the party's head, clearly stating that he was a "nuclear-weapon state" and opposed the United States. We have accelerated the development of nuclear weapons and missiles.

As a result, 16 ballistic missiles and two nuclear tests were launched during the 17 years of the Kim Jong-il administration, while the Kim Jong-eun administration launched ICBM = continental ballistic missiles in the last 10 years. It has already exceeded 100 shots, including the intercontinental ballistic missile class, and has conducted four nuclear tests.

In January last year, General Secretary Kim announced a "five-year defense plan" that included the development of new weapons, and will mark the 110th anniversary of the birth of his grandfather Kim Il Sung (Kim Il Sung) on the 15th of this week. It has also been pointed out that there is a possibility of launching more ballistic missiles and conducting a seventh nuclear test in the near future with the aim of raising national prestige.
