Emotional speech echoes from the speaker at Möllevångstorget.

On Sunday afternoon, both Russians and Ukrainians gathered here to demonstrate against the war.

Russian Julia reads an excerpt from a Mariupolbo diary.

- It is important that we spread the perspectives from those who are there right now.

Their pain and their fear.

Because what we Russians experience at the moment can not be compared with what the Ukrainians experience, says Julia.

"I hope one day you can forgive us"

Several of the participants have signs with them - several have a white flag with a blue stripe in the middle.

It is a flag adopted by the Russian anti-war movement and which represents the Russian flag, but without the red - without the blood, explains Ljudmila, one of the organizers behind the demonstration.

When Ljudmila gives a speech, she ends up falling to her knees, and apologizes for the invasion.

- I hope that one day you can forgive us, she says to the Ukrainians who gathered for the demonstration.

Feels a responsibility

Several of the participating Russians say that they feel a responsibility to speak out and distance themselves from the war - something that their friends and relatives in Russia do not have the same opportunity to do.

And this sense of responsibility is the reason why the demonstration was arranged.

- I feel that every Russian has a pretty big responsibility to say clearly and loudly, what we really think and feel.

That we do not support the Russian regime and the president and that we want to distance ourselves from him and his decision, says Ljudmila.
