Start the clip to hear how the plug-in robot can help so-called "home sitters"

It is about 30 centimeters long and weighs like a bag of flour.

The robot that acts as a substitute for children in primary school.

The children can even get to dress it or otherwise make it personal.

In Gothenburg, there are a total of 20 robots that are lent out from time to time to primary schools in all different districts.

They are the schools themselves that report a need for the administration.

Shoe absence problematic

The children who can get a robot are those who for various reasons can not go to school, for example children with cancer.

But the education administration also believes that children with neuropsychiatric difficulties may have the opportunity to use the robot.

- Problematic school absence is more of a challenge because it can fall out in different ways, says Dominic Summerton, business developer at the primary school administration in the City of Gothenburg.

Costs are weighed against each other

A robot costs around SEK 37,000 in purchase price, but Dominic compares it with what an exclusion would cost both society and the individual.

- You lose a lot if you do not go to school, starting to fall behind is something that can linger for quite a long time and which means that you do not end up in high school.

Even life chances are greatly affected.
