Norway: The Minister of Defense resigns due to a "love affair" that linked him to a high school student!

The Norwegian government announced the resignation of Defense Minister Odd Roger Inoxen, after it emerged that he had had an affair for years with a woman much younger than him.

For his part, Norwegian Prime Minister Jonas Gahr Store confirmed in a press conference that he "accepted Enoxen's resignation, and that it was a necessary decision."

He added that Inoxen did not inform him of the case before his appointment as defense minister last October, and that if he had known about the relationship, this information would have led to a different result, expressing his desire to "appoint a new defense minister as soon as possible."

"I've made poor choices and I will apologize unreservedly because my actions have made the lives of others more difficult," Enoxen told the Norwegian Press Agency (NTB) shortly before.

According to the Norwegian newspaper "VG", Inoxen began a relationship in 2005 with an 18-year-old high school student, when he met her during a school trip with her class to Oslo. The students visited the Norwegian Parliament and met Inoxen, who was then 50 years old.

The newspaper pointed out that "after the school trip, the politician and the student began a very close and intimate relationship."

According to what the woman (now in her thirties) confirmed to the newspaper, they met at least 12 times in Inoxen's office between late 2006 and 2007, when he was Minister of Energy, noting that he "used his power and position to get what he wanted."

For his part, according to "AFP", the former minister confirmed to the newspaper the young woman's visits to his office, but denied any "physical closeness" between them during the visits, stressing that "the relationship did not become intimate until after he left the government in 2007."
