Recently, the ICRC assisted a convoy of thousands of people to arrive safely in Zaporozhye from Mariupol, Ukraine.

The civilians transported by this humanitarian convoy fled Mariupol on their own.

Some private cars also joined the convoy after seeing the red cross sign along the road.

The ICRC team attempted to reach Mariupol for five days and four nights, but security conditions on the ground made it inaccessible.

The ICRC stands ready to facilitate the safe passage of civilians through Mariupol and other cities, provided that the parties to the conflict ensure the necessary security guarantees and conditions.
