On April 7, local time, the Disaster Management Department of Antioquia Province, Colombia said that at least 11 local people were killed and at least a dozen others were injured or lost contact with floods, landslides and other disasters caused by heavy rains.
On April 6, local time, the small town of Avriaki, Antioquia province suffered from heavy rain, which caused floods. The miners' camp in the El Povenil mining area was hit by floods.
Most of the victims were miners, who died of landslides caused by heavy rains.
Firefighters and a mine rescue team were on the ground searching for the missing.
