China News Agency, Johannesburg, April 8 (Reporter Wang Xi) The South African Presidential Palace disclosed on the 8th that on April 7, local time, South African President Cyril Ramaphosa spoke at the United Nations General Assembly on the issue of the Russian-Ukrainian conflict.

Ramaphosa said that the fundamental responsibility of the current international community is to end the conflict between Russia and Ukraine as soon as possible, so that the Ukrainian people can get rid of the suffering of the war as soon as possible, and achieve peace and stability in the region.

Ramaphosa reiterated that South Africa has always insisted on actively playing a mediating role in the Russian-Ukrainian conflict and refrained from taking sides.

At the same time, South Africa also called on the world to prevent individual countries from ignoring the norms of international law and provoking disputes through unilateral actions such as sanctions, which in turn affect the peace and stability of the international situation.

Ramaphosa stressed that the current parties concerned should establish a mutual trust mechanism and promote the two sides in the conflict to strengthen contacts, rather than alienate each other and lead to further escalation of the conflict.

Earlier, Ramaphosa said in a phone call with Russian President Vladimir Putin that the conflict should be resolved through mediation and negotiation, and South Africa hopes to play an active mediation role in the conflict between Russia and Ukraine.

South Africa is willing to fulfill its due international obligations and responsibilities in this conflict and play its due role in realizing regional peace as soon as possible.
