The investigation into the series of burglaries of churches in Grenoble (Isère) and in Ile-de-France at the start of the year has made major progress.

Two suspects were indeed placed in police custody this Wednesday in Val-de-Marne.

These men of Romanian nationality, aged 24 and 42, are suspected of "burglary by organized gang".

They were identified thanks to the exploitation of telephone data and DNA analysis, indicates France Bleu Paris.

The investigators of the Territorial Security of Val-de-Marne were also able to rely on the fact that the suspects had already been guilty of burglaries in other European countries.

Tens of thousands of euros in loot

The police estimated the total amount of items stolen at several tens of thousands of euros.

Churches in Val-de-Marne, Hauts-de-Seine, Seine-Saint-Denis, Paris and Isère had been visited by thieves who had broken in.

In particular, they had taken precious objects, sound equipment and the money from the trunks.
