"Tomorrow (Saturday) I will not be aligned with the 50 NL because following the 50 breaststroke on Thursday, I felt pain in my knee", explains the quadruple Olympic medalist on his Instagram account.

"To cure this, nothing other than a short period of rest," he adds.

In addition to the opposition with Maxime Grousset, the challenge of the final was also the qualification for the World and European Championships this summer.

Except surprise, the 31-year-old swimmer should still ensure his participation in the two international meetings thanks to his time achieved in the final of the Tokyo Olympics last summer (21 sec 55/100e).

In Limoges, Grousset, 22, has already won two French championship titles, in the 100m freestyle and the 50m butterfly, where he beat Florent Manaudou by five hundredths on Tuesday.

The 31-year-old also took third place in the 50m breaststroke on Thursday.
