Everyone was taken aback on Tuesday, when the president's chief of staff, Abdoulaye Saber Fadoul, was replaced in this post by the one who was his deputy and half-brother of the head of the military junta at the head of the country, Mahamat Idriss Déby Itno.

Abdoulaye Saber Fadoul is not just anyone.

Qualified as brilliant, hardworking and a good manager, he has held numerous ministerial positions such as Finance, Justice and Health, was Déby senior's chief of staff before becoming again under Déby junior, at the end of February.

Not even 40 days in office, Abdoulaye Saber Fadoul had just put on the clothes of the president's chief of staff again when he was replaced three days ago.

It's a total surprise in Ndjamena, where speculation is rife.

The first information distilled in the press speaks of a dismissal.

Some media recall that he had publicly supported the previous day the Secretary of State for Health who had just been sacked, others allude to probable mismanagement of funds intended for the fight against Covid-19 in Chad.

But the former chief of staff is a man of impeccable reputation despite more than ten years in business, according to the local press.

He decides to fight back and speak his truth the same night on his Facebook page.

His replacement?

A "

resignation accepted by the President of the Transitional Military Council

" for "

institutional and interpersonal

" reasons, he explains, pointing to "

a certain administrative irrationality of which the President of the Transition is himself a victim

".

Local newspapers will say later that it is probably "

a deep disagreement

" with the all-powerful private secretary of the PCMT, General Idriss Youssouf Boy, accused of having locked in the presidency, which would be at the origin of this departure.
