China News Agency, Beijing, April 7 (Xinhua) -- Chinese State Councilor and Foreign Minister Wang Yi had a telephone conversation with French President's foreign affairs adviser Bonne on the 7th.

The two sides exchanged views on the Ukraine issue.

Bona said that the French side has always adhered to an independent foreign policy and will not fall into the logic of bloc politics.

The French side has always been committed to creating and maintaining peace, and is communicating with all parties, including Russia, on major issues such as Ukraine's neutrality and security guarantees.

The French side attaches great importance to China's views on the current situation and is willing to make joint efforts with the Chinese side to promote peace talks, achieve a ceasefire and resolve the crisis.

Wang Yi said that President Xi Jinping had several phone calls with President Macron and leaders of various countries, and comprehensively expounded China's principled position on the Ukraine issue.

We also look forward to an early ceasefire and war and the restoration of peace, and are working tirelessly to this end in our own way.

At the same time, we believe that all parties should create the necessary environment and conditions for promoting peace talks, and they should all be "boosters" to persuade peace and promote talks, not "blowers" to fan the flames.

We cannot shout for a ceasefire to stop the war while continuously transporting a large number of advanced weapons and equipment to further escalate the war; we cannot claim support for dialogue and peace talks while imposing unilateral sanctions without a bottom line to stimulate further intensification of conflicts.

Wang Yi said that the Ukrainian issue is rooted in the unbalanced European security in the final analysis, and a balanced, effective and sustainable European security framework must be rebuilt based on the principle of indivisibility of security, so as to truly achieve long-term stability in Europe.

Wang Yi said that China supports the French side in adhering to the European strategic independence and putting the fate of Europe in the hands of the Europeans themselves.

We appreciate that the French side does not agree with the political logic of the group, and at the same time, we believe that the Cold War mentality should not be allowed to return.

Humanity has entered the 21st century, and the interests of all countries are intertwined and interdependent. China is willing to strengthen strategic cooperation with France to jointly build a community with a shared future for mankind.

Both sides are deeply concerned about the negative impact of the Ukraine crisis spillover.

Bona introduced the French initiative on addressing the global food security crisis, and expressed his hope to strengthen the coordination between the two sides in multilateral mechanisms such as the G20 and the United Nations Food and Agriculture Organization.

Wang Yi said that the international community should form a concerted force and make a unified voice to jointly deal with the global food shortage and the humanitarian crisis that may result from it.
