The corruption case of the Consell Esportiu de l'Hospitalet is about to blow up in the Catalan socialists' faces.

The Prosecutor's Office requests four and a half years in prison for the deputy mayor of Hospitalet, Cristian Alcázar, and another former PSC councilor, Cristóbal Plaza, for a crime of fraud and another against social security.

The Investigating Court number 2 of Hospitalet has ordered to prosecute the two for allegedly simulating Plaza's dismissal in 2016 when he was administrative technical director.

of the Sports Council of L'Hospitalet de Llobregat.

This entity, which is private, is in charge of managing sport at the school, federated and leisure level of the municipality and Alcázar was its president in 2016 when they decided that Plaza "obtained an undue economic benefit," according to the prosecutor.

For this reason, the deputy mayor sent a letter of dismissal "with legal grounds on objective grounds, given the decline in the Consell's income, forced, consequently, to amortize Plaza's job as technical director."

Shortly after, there was a dismissal agreement that agreed to compensation of 47,147 for Plaza and that he received seven months later.

"Both the dismissal agreement and the severance payment were carried out behind the backs of the L'Hospitalet de Llobregat City Council and, above all, of the governing bodies of the Consell Esportiu de L'Hospitalet de Llobregat and the General Assembly, knowingly depriving both accused of such information to the agencies cited with the intention of maintaining a normal situation," according to the prosecutor.

In addition, it adds that "despite what was agreed, the reality was radically opposite to that described in documents by the defendants, since there were no economic, technical, organizational or production reasons that justified the dismissal."

In this sense, the prosecutor recalls that the Consell, a private non-profit entity, did not have a negative economic situation and the subsidies from the City Council and the Generalitat had increased.

For this reason, the prosecutor believes that it was not necessary to "amortize the position of the accused" since after his departure it was occupied by another person, Eduard G., who was arrested as part of the legal case opened in the Hospitalet courts against those responsible for the Consell and the City Council of this town, including its mayor Núria Marín.

The Prosecutor's Office also indicates that, after his dismissal, Plaza sent a letter to all the people linked to the Consell expressing his gratitude and explaining that he put "an end to his relationship with sport" and even had four farewell parties.

That is why he considers that these circumstances "seem to be badly compatible with a dismissal situation."

In addition, it indicates that the defendant was appointed shortly after municipal advisor, member of the board of directors of the Consell, municipal councilor in 2019 and, months later, president of the Consell.

"The described conscious alteration of reality allowed the accused Plaza, upon his request, to be considered as a recipient of unemployment benefit, receiving from the date of dismissal until his new appointment, a total of 6486.96 euros in such concept", highlights the prosecutor.

The municipal group of Hospitalet d'En Comú Podem is as an accusation in this procedure and that they will request a prison sentence against the defendants.
