Voting put an end to the process that has been going on since President Joe Biden nominated Ketanji Brown Jackson as HD judge at the end of February.

Both Democrats and Republicans had a few hours before the vote to try to convince their colleagues of their position, for or against, Ketanji Brown Jackson.

In a vote in the Senate Legislative Committee on Monday, she received support from Democrats and three Republicans.

Thursday's votes in the Senate also ended 53-47 in Ketanji Brown Jackson's favor, which is enough for her to shoulder the new role.

Ketanji Brown Jackson replaces the liberal Stephen Breyer, who announced his resignation in January.

She will be the USA's first black female HD judge and thus historic.
