Benjamin Netanyahu, the former Israeli prime minister and leader of the Likud party, attacked the government of Naftali Bennett, accusing it of endangering what he called "the Land of Israel", and calling for Bennett to resign.

Netanyahu's attack came in a speech while participating in a demonstration by the Israeli far-right in front of the government headquarters in West Jerusalem on Wednesday evening.

Although the demonstration was intended to protest against the recent Palestinian operations that resulted in the killing of 11 Israelis, it gained momentum after the withdrawal of Parliamentarian Idit Suleiman from Bennett's party, which caused the government coalition to lose the parliamentary majority in the Knesset.

Netanyahu described the current government as fragile, and that its weakness encouraged Iran to continue its nuclear project, as he put it. He addressed the government, saying, "Go home, go because you harm the identity of the Jewish state and Israel's livelihood. Go home because you are weak in front of Iran and in the face of terrorism."

The demonstrators raised banners calling for a Jewish state, chanting slogans calling for Bennett to resign.

According to Israeli police estimates, about 6,000 Israelis participated in the extreme right-wing demonstration.

In an attempt to win over members of the right-wing parties in Bennett's government, Netanyahu stressed that "our door is open to everyone who has been elected by right-wing votes and wants to return Israel to the path of victory."

Bennett had accused Netanyahu and the head of the Religious Zionism party, Bezalel Smotrich, of being behind the withdrawal of Representative Idit Suleiman from his party and his loss of the parliamentary majority because "she was subjected to persecution and severe verbal violence for months by Netanyahu's men until it was finally broken."

Bennett indicated that the coalition - which he leads - is stable despite Suleiman's withdrawal, and that all the leaders of the parties participating in the coalition want to continue in this government.

It is noteworthy that the ruling coalition led by Naftali Bennett was formed last June from 8 heterogeneous parties from the right, left and center, and the curtain came down on 12 continuous years of the rule of the Likud party led by Netanyahu.
