A former table tennis teacher was tried on Wednesday before the Avignon criminal court (Vaucluse).

He was accused of sexual abuse and corruption of minors on several students, reports

Between 2014 and 2017, the defendant, now 40, allegedly abused or attempted to abuse several boys and girls aged 15 or over.

Investigators found child pornography on his cell phone and messages requesting sexual photos from some of his students.

Five victims compensated

Six victims were identified during the investigation.

Among them are two sisters who claim to have been raped while the 40-year-old was staying with their family.

The facts were however reclassified as “sexual abuse”.

The defendant was finally sentenced to eight years in prison and a five-year socio-judicial follow-up.

He is now prohibited from practicing an activity in contact with minors.

Five civil parties received compensation of 25,000 euros.
