In the clip, security manager Björn Segelod explains how to deal with the spread of rumors in the municipality.

Uddevalla municipality has two evacuation homes where the Swedish Migration Board places people who are currently fleeing the war in Ukraine.

Most stay only a few days before moving on to other, more long-term forms of housing.

At present, there are about 80 refugees living in Uddevalla.

But at the same time, concerns are rising that more people are living in hiding - completely unnecessarily, says Björn Segelod, because they are covered by the Mass Refugee Directive.

Too few children in school

It is both private individuals but also organizations that have contacted the municipality that there are Ukrainian refugees who think they are illegal.

Even within its own operations, the municipality has begun to suspect that there is a dark figure, as the number of Ukrainian children who are placed in school in the municipality is relatively small compared to the number of refugees who are in the municipality as a whole.

- The municipality has no opportunity to plan for children who do not exist, says Björn Segelod.

The municipality now wants to get in touch with unregistered refugees from Ukraine to urge them to seek contact with the Swedish Migration Board.
