Welcome to episode 206 of the FAZ objection podcast.

Shortly after the start of the war of aggression against Ukraine, Germany's foreign and security policy turned 180 degrees: delivery of weapons to a war zone, a special fund for the German armed forces, overachievement of the NATO target.

The international law expert Isabelle Ley is also calling for a turning point in the security policy debate in Germany.

For a long time, the vast majority of Germans made themselves comfortable with the pacifist attitude of “making peace without weapons” and wanted to believe in “change through trade” to the end.

And after the turning point?

Ley thinks: The questions of war and peace must be put on the table and discussed not only between state institutions, but also broadly in society.
