A mother strangles her child to death and tries to drown another for a strange reason

A Russian mother is facing first-degree murder in Wisconsin after she strangled her young child and tried to drown another because she "was afraid they would be harmed" by the war in Ukraine.

Natalia Hitchcock, 41, who was born in Russia and lives in Wisconsin, appeared in Sheboygan County Court on Tuesday, admitting to the heinous crime she committed and asking forgiveness from her husband.

The criminal complaint against the murdered mother indicates that in the last weeks, before the crime was committed on March 30, she had been following news reports about the war in Ukraine and gradually became "out of control" while she was following these events.

She was experiencing waves of anger, and this anger was inflamed even more when she drank excessively "vodka", according to her husband's testimony.

The complaint states that she was frustrated at not being able to go to Russia to see her mother, who lives there.

She feared "people from a bigger city would come and attack them" because of the war in Ukraine.

On the night of March 30, the horror scene began, as she first tried to drown her 11-year-old son in the bathroom before turning to her other son.

8-year-old Oliver.

The father says that his son woke him up to inform him that Oliver had "died" in the bedroom after seeing him lying on the floor while the mother was sitting on the bed with a large knife in her hand.

According to local station TMJ4, the father carried his son's body, went to the living room, put him on the sofa, trying to revive his heart, and then called 911.

At that time, the mother was walking around the apartment with the knife in a dazed state.

After the police arrived, the child was not dead yet, and he was rushed to the hospital and then died there two days later.

The mother told investigators that she had not slept at night because she was convinced that "the Russian government will take the children and abuse them" so it is better for them not to be alive.

She believed that "Oyver" would not be able to defend himself if he was abused, so she decided to kill him instead of watching him being abused, so she put "both hands around his neck and pressed as hard as she could until he stopped breathing," according to the complaint.

The mother did not show strong remorse for her action, so in the wake of the painful incident when the police informed her of her son's death, she said, "Well, I think I accomplished what I planned to do," and then cried quietly

In her first court appearance, Hitchcock spoke directly to her husband to ask for forgiveness, and said, "I'm so sorry. I don't know what happened."

The second session of her trial is scheduled for the seventh of April.
