With the bodies of many civilians found in towns near the capital of Ukraine and growing international criticism of Russia, the UN Security Council meeting just began after 11:00 pm Japan time.

At the meeting, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky is expected to make an online speech and appeal to the international community about the local misery.

In Kyiv, the capital of Ukraine, and Bucha, a Russian town northwest of Kyiv, the bodies of many citizens have been found on the streets after the withdrawal of Russian troops, and there are growing calls from various countries to hold Russia responsible.

Against this backdrop, the UN Security Council began a meeting on the morning of the 5th, just before 11:00 pm Japan time, to discuss the humanitarian situation in Ukraine.

At the meeting, President Zelensky of Ukraine will give a speech online.

This is the first time President Zelensky has made a speech at the United Nations since the military invasion by Russia, and it is expected that he will also appeal to the international community about the situation of Bucha himself.

On the other hand, the Russian side has denied involvement in the sacrifice of civilians in Bucha, and it seems that the meeting will strongly oppose the criticism from each country.

The meeting will also be attended by UN Secretary-General António Guterres, who is expected to call for a humanitarian ceasefire to put an end to the humanitarian crisis as Russia and Ukraine do not see any progress in the ceasefire negotiations.
