Probably caused by the entry into the atmosphere of celestial objects, a spectacular streak of light was observed in India by the inhabitants of the province of Maharashtra, this Saturday.

As evidenced by numerous videos posted on social networks, the celestial phenomenon lit up the sky to the delight of spectators.

According to local media outlet

Indian Express

, it could be a meteor shower.

On Twitter, British astronomer Jonathan McDowell attributed this spectacle to the re-entry into the atmosphere "of a Chinese rocket stage" launched in February 2021.

Ah, that for sure looks like a spacecraft/spent stage re-entering.

The uncontrolled destruction of a satellite?

Other experts taken over by

Indian Express

have approved this hypothesis by saying that it was a satellite destroyed after coming into contact with the Earth's atmosphere.

Ordinarily, satellites are destroyed intentionally to avoid any risk.

This one could have gotten out of control.

According to these experts, an identical phenomenon had already occurred in the state of Maharashtra about fifteen years ago.

According to our colleagues, this theory is consolidated by the discovery, last Sunday, of two metallic objects in the state of Maharashtra.

According to the first findings, it would indeed be parts that belonged to a Chinese satellite.
